"My grandmother has always been my source of inspiration when it comes to fashion. She was the one to tell me what looks good on me and give me advice on how to dress. Her personal look is to take menswear and add a feminine touch to it and I think that’s how I have shaped my sense of style."

“I was 12 when I started working for my parents company as a production manager and for that I looked to my brother for fashion inspiration. He taught me that a shirt can make such a difference in the way you are perceived because you are not only showing other people that you are serious but also that you are taking yourself more seriously.

Because I was so young, the office life has definitely shaped my sense of style and I don’t think I’ll ever let go of that simplicity. I used to dress in all blues or all blacks, you know, in a very monotone and business way, but now I experiment by combining different colors to my outfits while still keeping it simple.”

"You know, fashion to me is a form of curiosity. It’s a form of self-expression that you give to the world. I like how for example, a runway is perceived as materialistic but it’s really the celebration of the mind of the designer, what he or she envisioned and then translated into clothes. I think that’s art and ultimately the beauty of fashion."

Inspired by Humans of New York, Caught on Campus gives you an in depth look into how and why different students at IE university use fashion to express themselves.

"My mother owns a sustainable clothing brand. At the beginning, it didn't inspire me at all but as I grew up, I started using some of her pieces. It's amazing how fashion can be adapted in order to take care of our environment. But in general, my everyday style depends on my mood. One day I can show up really girly and the following day I can be wearing my comfiest sweat pants looking like a boy. I am not afraid of taking risks, if it looks bad... well.. it looks bad."

“My mom studied fashion design and had a little fashion company at one point. For New Years Eve she would always make me a dress so that I would have a new one every year. One year I was super into high school musical, so she made me a dress from one of the main characters. I think every dress kind of had like a special thing about them. In a way it was a reflection of how I was that year. One of my favorite dresses was probably the last dress she made me. It was a short red velvet dress and it had this small detail of white lace on it. I think that was my favorite dress of all because it was at that point that I realized how much effort she had put into making it.”

"My parents operate a garments factory in Bangladesh where they make clothes for companies like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Zara. When I was a kid, I would help out during the summer by printing the designs, placing the drawings from the designers in a heating machine and onto the clothes. My older brother would always work with me in the factory and he used to always tell me in the business world, if you dress up in a formal way you will be taken more seriously and I think these words define the way I dress today."

“My interest for fashion comes from the fact that I have sisters. I’m the second youngest out of four girls and I think what defined my personal style and sense of fashion is wanting to differentiate myself and my way of saying I’m me, I’m here! I like pieces that aren’t typical and kind of one-of-a-kind. My little sister always steals everything that I own. She is constantly wearing all my clothes at home and tells me this outfit is so cute and I’m like yeah, you look nice in my top. I’m really just trying to dress how I feel. It’s very emotion and mood based.”

“I’ve been interested in fashion since I’ve been small because of my dad. My grandma used to work for a sewing company and she would make all of my father’s clothes. I think it comes from the fact that he grew up with nothing and the only thing that could prove to people that he was worth something was through fashion. For me the way you dress says a lot about you. My dad always told me, the importance of dressing well is not that you want people to perceive you in a specific way, but that you are conscious of who you are.”
